Modelling a Stockpile

Follow the steps below to model a stockpile from a set of scans.

Note:  To create an accurate stockpile model you will need at least two scans, capturing the whole stockpile surface.

  1. Create a polygon to define the area of interest for modelling with Create > Draw > Polygon. See Polygons.

  2. Filter by polygon to the area of interest using Position and Filter > Filter > Polygon. See Filters > Polygon.

  3. Filter the scans further using Position and Filter > Filter > Topography, Isolated Points, and Intensity. See Topography Isolated Points, and Intensity.

  4. Create the model using Create > Surface > Topographic Surface. See Surface > Topographic Surface.

  5. Despike the model with Edit > Fix > Despike. See Fix > Despike.

  6. Manually delete remaining unwanted points, then fill holes with Edit > Fix > Fill Holes. See Fix > Fill Holes.

  7. Calculate surface volumes with Query > Surface > Surface Volume. See Surface.
