Overview

Modflow rows are numbered from top to bottom, and columns from left to right. The dimensions of the rows and columns of a Modflow model can be changed by editing the height of a row, or the width of a column. The height or width of the next adjacent row(s) or column(s) is adjusted so that the overall size of the model remains unchanged. You may also insert or delete rows and columns.

Grid cells should be smaller in important areas or where the change in head between adjacent cells is too large. If your rows or columns are unequal widths, try to avoid rows or columns being greater than 150% wider than adjacent cells. This is because unequal row and column widths may cause numeric errors, which become larger as the difference in size between adjacent rows and columns increases.
