Least Squares Adjustment Method

Vertical Adjustment

A vertical adjustment based on height differences between stations can be performed either separately or in conjunction with a horizontal adjustment. The vertical adjustment calculation is separate from the horizontal adjustment, but may share the same fixed and free stations. The results are placed in the report file along with any horizontal adjustment results as mentioned above.

No approximate height values are needed for the free stations for the vertical adjustment, as this adjustment does not iterate. The fixed stations data block must supply the reduced level of all fixed stations observed to or from, and the free stations data block must supply the names of all free stations used.

Observation data is validated similarly to the horizontal data.

Any errors that occur during the adjustment will be caused by inconsistent data, in a similar fashion to the horizontal adjustment errors.
