Entering Design Data
Vulcan accepts data entry from three devices. The devices available to the system are dependent on the particular hardware graphics device being used, but a combination of the following is usual:
- mouse
- keyboard
- remote table digitiser
The following design entry modes, which are displayed through the Digitise toolbar, are available in Vulcan:
- Indicate

- Snap to Objects

- Snap to Points

- Snap to Grid

- Smart Snap

- Key in Point Data (Keyboard mode)

- Bearing Input

- Create Line at Angle
The mouse can use any of these modes, graphic terminals allow only Key in Point Data mode
, and digitisers only Indicate mode
. Refer to the Digitising section for more information on the available modes.
There are many menu options available for creating design data so you may want to browse through the options in the Design > Create submenu. Quite a few of these options are also represented by toolbar icons. Custom toolbars and hotkeys (shortcut keys) may also help with design work. Refer to the Tools > Customise option for information on assigning hotkeys and creating custom toolbars.
