Overview
Use the Line Styles submenu to define patterns that can be "painted on" lines rather than just having a series of joined points. This is useful if you require line styles different to the line styles delivered with Vulcan.
The pattern is not stored with the line objects, it is generated each time the object displays. Line styles are defined in plotter coordinates (cm). The conversion factor, used to convert the object onto which the line styles are being painted, is held in the object value field. Line styles are stored in the line style database (lines.dgd.isis) located in $ENVIS_RESO. Line styles are a type of primitive and as such they can be incorporated in a feature. As line styles use the object value, they might conflict with other options, such as the Contour option (under the Model > Contouring submenu), which also uses the object value.
Note: Â You should compress and rebuild your database design files on a regular basis, for example once a month, as data that is deleted is not actually deleted but marked for deletion. In the long term this will result in this data taking up considerable amount of disk space. Compressing and rebuilding the files will remove the data that is marked for deletion. Use the Compress and Rebuild option from the context menu in the Vulcan Explorer application to compress design files. Refer to the Compressing a Database documentation for more information on the compress and rebuild procedure.
