Overview
The View menu contains tools that all relate to how you can view the data.
The options under the View > Visibility submenu allow you to make objects visible, shadowed or invisible. This is useful when you don't want to take the risk of occidentally picking and editing the wrong object. Objects can only be edited when they are visible.
The options under the View > Change View submenu allow you to change the angle from which you view the data and also options that allow you to look at the data while "walking" through or "flying" over the data.
The options under the View > Windows submenu allow you to create other mapping (sub) windows in addition to the standard main (Primary) window. The main window occupies the whole screen and is opened as the default window at startup. Sub-windows can be any size and positioned anywhere on the screen. This allows multiple sub-windows to be open at the same time. Sub-windows may be useful when you want to get a different view or edit/create objects without disturbing the objects in the Primary Window.
You may have a plan view of your data on one sub-window, a section view in another and a rotated view in yet another window again. You can specify whether you allow editing in these sub-windows or have them for viewing only.
The options under the View > Shaft View submenu allow you to create shaft transformation windows and move to or from these windows. Shaft transformation windows provide you with a transformed view of design data (and models) that gives a "flattened" 2D view of the walls of an essentially cylindrical object (for example, mine shaft or inclined drift).
The options under the View > Animation submenu allow you to create interactive and flexible animations of a variety of different Vulcan data. For example, each stage in the development of an underground mine could be included in an animation to show the progressive appearance of the workings for each stage in the development.
