Overview
This section describes the options under the Transformations submenu. These options allow you to:
- Convert local mine grid coordinates to the UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) plane projection coordinate system, or to some other conformal grid system.
- Convert UTM coordinates to geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) based on the local spheroid for that region.
- Convert the geographic coordinates to the WGS84 (World Geodetic System 1984) Cartesian coordinate reference frame and vice versa. This is the coordinate frame used by GPS (Global Positioning System).
Note: Â The above conversions are performed by three separate options in the Transformations submenu. The default panel entries in these options are derived from the most recently used transformation option in the current Vulcan session. For example, if you performed the Local to UTM option first, followed by the UTM to Lat/Long option, the latter option will show the calculated UTM coordinates as the default coordinates for the UTM to Lat/Long conversion.
