Objects

Objects are the primary method for editing and collecting data. There are two types of objects:

  • String objects
String objects are objects that are a series of digitised coordinate points either connected or unconnected. They are the most common type of object.
Complex objects can be designed as a primitive. Primitives can be applied to any line thus eliminating the need to redraw these objects whenever they are needed.
  • Text objects
Text objects consist of lines of text data used primarily for annotation. Each block of text is defined as one object.
  • Dimension objects
Dimension Objects are used to draw annotated arrows and arcs onto objects to indicate dimension.

Both types of objects can be edited. The graphic attributes, such as line type, colour and pattern, can be altered and the object can be named or given some numeric value.

The numeric value is also used by other Vulcan modules. Where this is the case, it will be highlighted in the documentation of the appropriate module.
