Import Esri Grids
If you are importing or exporting shape files or grids, no ESRI installation or special licensing is required. However, the following files are required for import: SHX, SHP, DBF.
Instructions
On the File menu, click Import to display the Import panel.
Click Esri (shape, grid. tin) in the File Format column on the left.
Select Grids from the File Type field on the right side of the panel.
Click OK to display the Import Grid panel.
There are two types:
Single
Select this option to import a single Esri grid file. Unlike the Multiple option, this option will allow you to specify the name and storage location for the resulting Vulcan grid.
Multiple
Select this option to import more than one Esri grid file. The resulting Vulcan grids will be stored in the same directory as the original Esri files. The grids will also inherit the names of the selected Esri files.
Importing a single grid
Esri Grid file
Select the Esri grid file that you want to import into Vulcan. The drop-down list contains all .adf files found in the current working directory.
Click Browse to select a file from another location.
Vulcan Grid file
Enter the name of the grid file that will be used to store the imported information. By default, the resulting grid file will be stored in your current working directory.
Click Browse to select a file from another location.
Vulcan grid files should have the name <proj><name>.<var>g where <proj> is the name of the project, <name> is the user-defined name of the grid file and <var> is the name of the grid variable. Common variable names are 'sr' structure roof and 'sf' structure floor. If you do not specify a variable name for your grid or add the <g> extension, then the extension .srg is added automatically.
