Vulcan Menus
The first thing to notice about the application menus is that their default appearance and behaviour are compliant with the standard Windows guidelines.
The Vulcan Workspace
The Vulcan menu bar, which displays along the top of the Vulcan workspace, will house all options and submenus that are applicable to your Vulcan licence.
To expand a Vulcan menu, click on the menu title. Menus in the Vulcan menu bar can also be expanded through pressing the [Alt] key followed by the letter that appears underlined in the menu title.
Example: Â To access the contents of the File menu, you would use the Alt + F keys.
A Vulcan Submenu
The arrow symbol
is used to identify a Vulcan submenu, i.e. a collection of options. To expand a Vulcan submenu, place your mouse cursor over the submenu title.
The purpose behind submenus is to provide convenient access to common or frequently used operations, such as loading or saving a file or manipulating data. Vulcan submenus are generally organised in a "top-down" work procedure to assist with workflow.
Access keys or hotkeys can also be used to quickly access certain Vulcan options, for example pressing the Ctrl + N keys will allow you to quickly access the New option without having to navigate through the File menu. Custom hotkeys can be created and assigned through the Customise option under the Tools menu.
A menu option followed by three dots (...), for example the File > Layers > List option, indicates that the menu option displays a panel when selected.
Toolbar icons, which are displayed to the left of the option, are used to reinforce the association between toolbars and menu options.
Menus can operate in a native or classic style depending on the preferences that have been set.
Right-click menus
As number of options have additional menu that are displayed by right-clicking on the option name. The contents of these menus will vary depending on the option.
