Intended Workflow – Face Mapping
This digital mapping solution is comprised of a suite of tools designed to be utilised as a streamlined workflow. The workflow for Face Mapping was designed to be run in the following order:
-
Mapping > Load Drive Layer
Loads and sets visibility of design data filtered on a particular level of interest. The tool will load only the layer for that particular level and filter the survey stations (coordinate reference points) from two other survey stations layers. This panel will remember the settings from the last time the tool was run.
-
Mapping > Add Station
Note: If required.
Creates a user defined Survey Station (coordinate reference point) in the ‘User Stations Layer’ (defined in the User Stations Layer parameter in the Survey Station Layers section of the Global settings) and labels it. This panel will remember the settings from the last time the tool was run.
-
Mapping > Station Section
Creates a Section View in a certain orientation and location based on a trigonometric calculation of a distance measured from a survey station. The tool will also create a grid and a drive profile template (primitive). This panel will remember the settings from the last time the tool was run.
-
Pictures > Picture Display
Allows the quick and easy import of a photo into Vulcan (image registration) by simply digitising two points on screen.
-
Pictures > Picture Crop
Allows the quick and easy cropping of the photo previously imported.
-
Pictures > Picture Scale
Allows quick scaling (resizing) of the photo previously imported.
-
Pictures > Picture Translate
Allows the quick moving (translation) of the photo previously imported.
-
Pictures > Picture Rotate
Allows quick scaling (resizing) of the photo previously imported.
-
Mapping > Line To Samples
Note: If sampling undertaken. – This can also be run after Step15 if desired.
Enables the quick and easy digitising of a face sample line and storing of logging and sampling data into a drillhole database.
-
Mapping > Feature Lines
Allows the quick digitising of lines using predetermined Features.
-
Mapping > Lines To Polygons
Takes the digitised lines from Feature Lines, finds all intersections between them, breaks the lines according to these intersection points, links the resulting lines into polygons and then applies the appropriate features, where possible.
-
Mapping > Feature Replace
Note: If required.
Allows the quick and easy reassignment of a Feature to a polygon.
-
Mapping > Feature Structures
Note: If present.
Allows the quick digitising of structural lines using predetermined Features.
-
Mapping > Digitise Grades
Note: If recorded
Allows the quick and easy digitising and recording of grade information.
-
Mapping > Face Reserve Grades
Allows for:
-
Reserves to be run on a face primitive created from the face template.
-
Length-weighted downhole composites to be calculated from a selected drillhole near the face to be applied to the mapping polygons.
-
-
Mapping > Face Grades
Allows the quick and automatic calculation of the area weighted grade of the face based on the polygon areas and estimated grades of each lithology (rock type), as well as assigning the stockpile and face direction attributes.
-
Mapping > Add Comment
Note: If required.
Allows the adding of comments to an attribute field of the mapping polygons.
-
Post Processing > Plot Face
Creates a layer called “PLOT_LABELS” in which an arrow and labels are created (see Plot Face settings) to define the position of the face relative to the survey station. It then creates a plot file (
.dhq) of the selected face(s) using a preconfigured drafting sheet and Plot Builder specification file, generated using Setup > Create Plot Resources. -
Post Processing > Flag Contact Points
Note: If required.
Allows the easy flagging of domain contact points.
-
Post Processing > Fold Profile
Note: If backs and walls mapped.
Takes the walls and backs polygons, structural measurements, walls/backs photos and sample lines from their 2D plane and folds (rotates) them back into the correct orientation.
-
Post Processing > Design To Actual
Allows a previously mapped face (and any associated sample line drillholes and face photos) to be moved to align with survey pickups and other reference data.
-
Post Processing > Extract Contact Points
Allows extracting of flagged contact points from face maps currently loaded on screen into separate hanging wall and foot wall layers for each domain.
